Alan "Al" H. Krueger

Alan Al" H. Krueger, 67, Togo, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 10, 2016.

He was born in Watertown, Minnesota on September 29, 1948 to Vernon and Shirley (Stinson) Krueger. He graduated from Mound (MN) Westonka High School where he
began his studies of art. After which he became mostly a self-taught artist. He served four tours with the Army in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he did many portraits for the military troops stationed there. Al got his start in wildlife full-time in 1977, after placing in the top 10 percent of the first Minnesota Duck Stamp Contest.
In 1987, his painting "Spring Breakup-Loons" was chosen from an international competition to be reproduced in limited edition by the Laurel Street Art Club.
In 2012 he had his wildlife exhibition on display the Edge Center Gallery in Bigfork, which featured detailed and realistic painting of animals and birds. He also
had one man shows in Montana and other Minnesota cities. He spent several years in the west. He married Josie McCue Schall on January 13, 2001 in Duluth. The couple settled in Togo where they have since resided. Al appreciated the rural area and the wildlife, along with coffee time with family and friends.
He was a life member of the Cook VFW Post #1757, and Life Member of the Vietnam Veterans of American.Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, a Life Member of the National Rifle Association,

He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Krueger.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Josie; one son, Eric (Tamara) Krueger of WA,; one daughter, Alicia Johnson of Bismark, ND; his mother, Shirley Krueger of Delano, MN;
two step-sons, Trevor (Kimiko Nelson) Schall of Togo and Tanner (Samantha) Schall of Eveleth; two step-daughters, Krista (fiance, Brian Erickson) Schall of Bigfork, MN and Kylah (Mike) Elofson of Moundsview, MN; two brothers, Wayne (Pastor Vicky Taylor) Krueger of Deer River, MN and Dale Krueger of Delano, MN; three sisters, Elaine (Steve) Silus of Minnetonka, MN, Morgan (Nancy Wasilowski) Krueger of St. Cloud and Penny Krueger of Delano, MN; nine Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

At Al's request, there will be no formal funeral services. Interment will be in the Carpenter Cemetery in Carpenter Township of Itasca County.
