Obituary

Alberta (Birdie) D. Larson, 76, of Cook, MN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 12, 2024.

Birdie was born in Cook, MN on January 1, 1948 to Albert and Thelma (Setter) Bergman.

Birdie grew up and attended school in Cook, graduating high school in 1965. After graduation, she went to beauty school in Sacramento, California, earning a diploma as a licensed beautician. She then returned to Minnesota and worked as a beautician in Hibbing, MN. In later years, she worked as a cook at the South Switch in Angora, MN and as a Dietary Aide at the Cook Hospital.

Birdie married Robert Gustafson on July 28, 1967. Together they had 3 children: Carrie, Tara and Ryan. Robert passed away May 7, 1978.

Birdie married Donald Larson on December 12, 1980.

Birdie enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, trapping, spending time at the homestead, hosting the holidays at her home, baking (especially for others), casino trips with friends, watching/identifying/feeding the birds (along with shooting the squirrels who ate her bird feed!), family photos and ancestry, sharing a laugh over comics from the newspaper, telling jokes and making people laugh. She was a proud Finlander who would often share her Finnish words and sayings with others (often not G Rated!).

Birdie was a very kindhearted and loving person who enjoyed time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She is so loved and is going to be dearly missed.

Birdie was preceded in death by her parents; husband's Robert Gustafson and Donald Larson; brother Harley Bergman and great-granddaughter Raelynn Marie Stone.

Birdie is survived by her children: Carrie (Scott) Erickson, Tara (Kevin Jacobson) Gustafson, Ryan (Jill) Gustafson; grandchildren: Samantha (Jeremiah) Stone, Hailey (Adam) Rich, Jacob Erickson, McKenzie (Lance Borkowski) Gustafson, Kaiden Kachinske; and great-granddaughters Rilee Ann Stone, Iyla Mae Rich and a great grandson due any day; sister Shelly (Jason) Nelson, brothers Alden Bergman, Galen (Doreen) Bergman, Brian (Gail) Bergman; best friend Linda Troseth, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
