Alfred "Bud" A. Anscomb
Alfred A. Anscomb, 88, Alango, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.
He was born on June 2, 1926, on the family farm homestead in Angora, the son of Alfred and Gelina (Olson) Anscomb. He grew up in Angora, then at the age of 18, joined the Army and honorably served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II. After his tour of duty, he settled in the state of Washington, where he lived out most of his life. He married the former Connie Mills on May 26, 1952 in San Mateo, California. Alfred, or know by family as "Bud", was a dedicated mechanic for United Airlines for over 30 years. He and Connie enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. He was an avid reader, good carpenter and was fondly known by many as a quiet and gentle man. His wife Connie died on May 9, 2011, and not long after, Alfred moved back to Alango. He most recently made his home at the Heritage Manor in Chisholm, where the staff said "it was a privilege to take care of him", as he was such a gentleman and so appreciative.
In addition to his wife Connie, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, John, William, Robert and George Anscomb; 3 sisters, Cora Lind, Susan Hage and Agnes Pihlija; and 2 nieces, Ellen Nordlinder and Wanda Maki.
Alfred is survived by one sister, Altha E. Ojanen of Alango and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Angora.
