Altha Ellen Ojanen, 96, of Angora, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.

Altha was born to Alfred and Gelina (Olson) Anscomb on August 11, 1924 at home in Angora MN. Altha grew up in Angora on the family farm. She met Walfred John and they were united in marriage on September 13, 1947. The young couple moved to Alango where Altha resided most of her life, raising a family. She continued to work hard on the farm, helping hay and peeling pulp off balsam and popple trees. Along with the farm work and raising a family, Altha proudly worked as the Town Clerk of Alango for 15 years. After Walfred's retirement, Altha continued her tradition of working by his side by mixing mud for his bricklaying projects. Sadly, Walfred passed away in 1987.

Altha loved to quilt and she crafted many quilts for her family. She also loved to sew. Altha had many wonderful sewing projects that she worked on; tree skirts and wind socks to name a few. Altha had a green thumb and she spent many back breaking hours cultivating her wonderful vegetable and flower gardens. Altha enjoyed going to Fortune Bay, one of her last trips as recent as last summer.

Altha was hardworking and feisty, but also a kind and loving woman. She thought the world of her family and was overjoyed when she got to meet her youngest great-great grandson.

Altha was preceded in death by her husband Walfred; daughters: Ellen Nordlinder and Wanda Maki; brothers: John, William, Robert, George and Alfred Anscomb; sisters: Cora Lind, Susan Hage, and Agnes Pihlija.

Altha is survived by her children: Willard (Carol) Ojanen of Kennewick, WA; Keith (Rossy Blanco) Ojanen of Angora, MN; and Carolyn (Joseph) Nordlinder of Britt, MN; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Sand Lake Chapel, Britt, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
