Alyssa S. Newman
Alyssa Sue Newman, 32, Hibbing passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Eveleth Fitzgerald Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness.
Alyssa was born on March 1, 1983 in Hibbing the daughter of Gary and Julie (Ruparcich) Newman. She grew up in Sturgeon Township. Alyssa had attended the Cook High School, graduating in 2001. She was one of the top five students in her class and was proud to be one of the keynote speakers of her graduation. Throughout high school she enjoyed playing volleyball. Alyssa's had attend Hibbing Community College for three years where her goal was to become a teacher. She was a prolific writer and especially enjoyed writing poetry. She had a talent for cooking and creating new recipes. She was an animal lover, and her pride and joy was her beloved kitty Buddha. Alyssa enjoyed listing to music. She was employed as a cook at an area restaurant and worked at an area grocery store. She was baptized and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alango.
She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Joseph Ruparcich (1969) and Joyce (Ruparcich) Burke (1978); paternal grandparents Raymond Newman (2012) and Vernice Newman (2012); aunt Barbara Nelson (2010); and uncle William Ruparcich (2012).
Alyssa is survived by her parents Gary and Julie Newman of Sturgeon Township; her sister Holly (Keith) Dragisich of Isanti, MN; maternal grandfather Elmer "Trigger" Burke of Chisholm; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
SERVICES: funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alango. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Art Dale will be the officiant. A lunch in Alyssa's honor will be held after the service in the church social hall. Burial will follow in the Cook Community Cemetery.
