Arlene L.
Crain
Jul 23, 1929 — Feb 11, 2024
Arlene Lucille Crain passed away on February 11, 2024. She was born on July 23, 1929, to Martin and Myrna (Cooper) North on a farm near Little Cedar, Iowa. Arlene graduated high school at 16 years of age, then attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College.
Arlene met Roderick M. Crain, from Riceville, Iowa, at a high school football game. They were united in marriage on October 12, 1947, at Osage United Methodist Church.
Arlene and Rod lived in St. Paul Minnesota for a year before returning to Osage to make their home. They became proud parents of Theresa, Jerry, and Michael. In 1966 they moved to Crane Lake, Minnesota where they lived out their lives. Rod started a successful construction business and Arlene helped with the bookkeeping and maintaining their home.
Arlene was a wonderful cook, and baker. She shared her talents with family, friends, and was a big supporter of the Crane Lake Chapel by donating many baked goods every year. Arlene and Rod loved to sing and dance, which they continued all throughout their lives. They also took up golf and Arlene got a hole in one which she was very proud of. They loved to fly their airplane to remote lakes in Canada to fish in the summer, and then winter in the south.
Arlene is survived by her three children: Theresa (John) Lee, Jerry (Jill) Crain, and Michael (Ginny) Crain; grandchildren: Corinne (Dan) Walker, Michael Lee, Jerrett (Genevieve) Crain, Brooke Crain, Brandon (Kasie) Zeigler, Jason Crain, Rebecca Crain, Kyle Crain, and Carlee (Brian) Ameluxen; 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, her parents, her parents-in-law Raymond B. and Caroline M. Crain; brothers: Marin Jr. and James North; and son-in-law John Lee.
Arlene's family are happy that she and Rod are reunited and are sure that they are singing and dancing once again.
There will be a memorial service for Arlene on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00am, at the Crane Lake Chapel, located in Crane Lake, Minnesota. Gravesite service following the memorial and a celebration of life gathering held at Trails End Resort in Buyck, Minnesota.
