Obituary

Arlene C. Eddy

Arlene Carrie Eddy, 74, Chisholm passed away on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing.

Arlene was born on July 5, 1940 in Hibbing, the daughter of Marie (Persson) and Harry Scofield. After her mother died in 1943, Harry married Elva Fuller, who Arlene considered her mother. She grew up in Togo and graduated from Alango High School in 1958. She lived in the twin cities for a few years, then moved to Orr in 1971. She had numerous waitressing jobs and was a well known and liked waitress at Patten's Café in Orr for many years, where she made many lasting friendships. Arlene then owned and operated the Log Jammer Inn, a bar and restaurant in Cusson for several years. She moved to Hibbing in 1989, and worked for Hibbing Electronics, retiring from there in 2002.
Arlene's world consisted of her children, grandchildren and her love of flowers and decorating. Her family fondly recalls telling her that "she should have been an interior decorator." Arlene was a great cook and baker and loved to cook for everyone. She treasured the times baking cookies with her grandchildren. Arlene had a "green thumb" and liked to plant plenty of flowers in the spring and was known for her tomato plants. Another of her talents was refinishing furniture, of which she did for many people. She also loved antiques and owned an antique shop for a time.

She is preceded in death by mother Marie Scofield (1942), father Harry (2002) and 2nd mom Elva (2008), son David Eddy in 1961 and dear friend, Mel Schwanz in 2009.

Arlene is survived by her 4 sons, Leroy (Julie) Eddy of Virginia, Troy (Mary Ann) Eddy of Ft. Washington, MD, Geno (Deanna) Eddy of Grand Rapids, Dean (Brenda) Eddy of Tuscon, AZ; 2 daughters, Teresa (fiance: Curt Curtis) Sleen of Jamaica and Lori (Albert) Shuster of Greaney; 3 brothers Tom (Becky) Scofield of Hooksett, N.H., Dick (Paula) Scofield of Louden, N.H. and Larry Scofield of Franklin, N.H.; 3 sisters Betty Burroughs of Green Valley, AZ, Rosemary (Ruben) Matos of Lakeville, and Marjory (Jerry) Hoffman of Las Cruces, N.M.; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; former husband Ernest Eddy of Virginia along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
