Obituary

Betty Jane Christiansen 87, of Rauch, MN. peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Betty was born in Cook, MN. on January 25, 1938, to Henry and Angela (Kovach) Flake. She grew up in Rauch and remained a resident her entire life.

Betty was united in marriage to Raland Christiansen in 1956. They were blessed with three children, and eventually grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty and Raland purchased the family bar and ran it for many years until 2008 when Raland passed away. Betty was a strong individual and hard worker. She forged ahead, running the bar by herself after Raland passed. She kept the bar running for 50+ years until she retired in 2019. Betty also drove the school bus for 30+ years, easily changing hats from one job to the other.

Betty enjoyed golfing, camping, traveling and playing cribbage. One of her most cherished pastimes was dancing with Raland. She absolutely loved spending time with her friends and family. She also loved her extended family from the bar, and they loved her back. All of Betty's family remember her as hard-working, feisty, and never afraid to say what was on her mind. She was loved and cherished and will be deeply missed. "Mom, we will leave the bar light on".

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Raland, and brothers, Albert Flake and Louie Flake.

Betty is survived by her children: Laura (Soren) Johansson, Jack (Jackie) Christiansen, and Lynn (Tony) Norman; God-daughter Heather Holman; brother Rodney (Joyce) Flake; sisters: Judy (Rodney) Odella, Patti (Ronnie) Siiro, and Veronica Holman, sister-in-law Darlene Teska; grandchildren: Ashley (Lance), Asia (Nick), Alyssa (Jerry), and Benjamin (Kelsey); great-grandchildren: Braylyn, Warren, Maureen and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
