Obituary

Carol J. McCue 85 of Cook, MN passed away at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, in North Carolina on May 25, 2025.

Carol was born April 30, 1940, to Louis and Alma (Amundson) Aune in Cook, Minnesota. She grew up in Cook where she attended Cook School and was a cheerleader. Carol married Virgil "Squeek" McCue on December 23, 1955. Carol lived her life as a homemaker, where she cared for her parents and raised her children in her childhood home. Throughout their 66 years of marriage, they loved to travel in their motorhome. Carol accompanied Squeek in their motorhome, whether it was on road construction jobs sites to winters in Arizona. In early years they spent summers at the family cabin with her parents and children on Black Duck Lake. Carol, known to her family as gran/granny, loved and supported her family no matter where life took them. She was always proud to support her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in all their activities. Gran was famously known for her Sunday roast dinners and family gatherings. Carol was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and VFW Post 1757 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons: Mike (Shona), Bob (Fran); son-in-law Dale, grandkids: Mike (Jo Ann), Nick, Cathy (Seth), Erica, Louie (Nancy), Joe (Nina), Phil (Angela), Jessie (Chris), Rochelle (Zach), Jeff (Tanya), Stacey; great grandkids: Tristan, Zach, Isabelle, Gabe, Becca, Harlan, Carmen, Lacey, Ellie, Nash, Zona, Brian, Athena, Maverick, Mataya, Courtney, Aiden, Ava, Hunter; sister-in-laws: Barb Seopa and Karen McCue, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband Squeek, beloved daughter Tammy, brothers Lawrence, Earl, George (KIA WWII), Marvin and two brothers Palmer and Olof Magnus in childhood.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 1:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cook, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
