Carol J Zallar passed away February 14 th , 2022, at the Cook Hospital, Cook, MN after a long battle with cancer and heart issues.
Carol was born July 27, 1945, In Superior, WI to Bernadine (DeRosia) and Edwin Soyring. She lived in Maple, WI until the age of 11 when she moved to Sheboygan. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1963. She attended North Hennepin Community College and graduated in 1976.
On February 23, 1969, she married the love of her life, Martin "Butch" Zallar. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage until his death on December 17, 2008.
She worked for the MN Dept of Corrections at Thistledew Camp as the school's secretary from 1983 until retiring due to health issues in 1999.
Prior to getting ill, Carol was an active member of St Mary's Church as a Eucharistic minister. A member of GRS Fire Dept where she served as a board member and 1 st responder. 1 st responder director and member of Legion Post 480 Auxiliary. She was a life member of VFW Post 1757, Ladies Auxiliary serving as secretary.
Carol enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband, baking, reading, card playing, listening to music -especially old country. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and wintering in Texas.
Carol is survived by five sisters: Mary Ellen (Ed) Hattenberger, Hinckley, MN, Lauri Baumbach, Big Bend, WI; Debbie Soyring Sheboygan, WI; Renee (Steve) Gilbertson, Sheboygan, WI; Kimberly (Grant) Koski, Superior, WI. Five Brothers: Jerry (Linda) Soyring, Maple, WI; George Sletten, Superior, WI; Ricky, Ronald, and Mark Soyring of Sheboygan, WI, and many nieces and nephews. Special friends: Bobbie Woods of Virginia, MN and Bill Isham Orr, MN.
Preceding in death were her loving husband, Butch, her parents: Bernadine and George Sletten, Dorothy and Edwin Soyring, a sister Bonnie Beckwell, brothers Bradley Soyring, Timothy Sletten, and Robert Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 2:00pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cook, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
