Born: July 5, 1934 in New Bedford, MA to parents Bradford and Dorothy Blossom.
Deceased: February 29, 2024 at New Journey Residence in Eveleth, MN.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edwin L. Blossom, sister-in-law Patricia Pendergast Blossom and special niece Stacy M. Blossom. Carolyn was a life-long learner as well as a wonderful teacher and preacher. She taught grade school music for a number of years on the east coast. At the age of 40, she was baptized at Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester, Connecticut and later attended and graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. Following seminary, she worked for the Pioneer Clubs, a Christian boys and girls program out of Wheaton, Illinois providing opportunities for children to learn about Jesus and grow in their faith. As a trainer for the programs' teachers and other leadership, she traveled all around the country.
Carolyn was a musician who enjoyed music very much and played the trumpet, piano, organ, directed choirs and sang in the soprano section. She was also a gifted artist who painted in oils and canvas.
In 1996, Carolyn came to Cook, MN to visit friends who were vacationing on Lake Vermilion and fell in love with the area so much that she purchased her first home there in 1997. While in Cook, she was adopted by a cat who came to her door whom she named Luther. Later, she sold her home in 2005 and she and Luther moved to Virginia, MN for a number of years.
Carolyn was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook and later on at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia. She continued to teach and share her love for Jesus with children's after school programs as well as lead numbers Bible studies. A voracious reader, she continued to dig deeper into scripture, theological studies and enjoyed other genres of literature.
Carolyn was an avid walker and proponent for eating natural foods. She worked as a bookkeeper for Natural Harvest in Virginia for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening. Carolyn also previously worked for Julkowski's True Value Hardware and Trinity Lutheran in Cook and Our Savior's Lutheran in Virginia, MN.
A woman of deep Christian faith, she trusted God to provide for her needs.
Carolyn is survived by a nephew, Tom Blossom, his son Jack of Alameda, CA who loved her and will miss her very much; cousin Leslie Blossom of Belchertown, MA as well as dear friends Julie Smith, of Burnsville; MN, Peggy Jones of Forsyth, MO; Norma Thomas of Cook, MN and Arliss Olson, of Andover, MN. Blessed be the memory of Carolyn Blossom.
Per Carolyn's request, there will not be a public memorial service but a private inurnment in the spring at the Littlefork Lutheran Cemetery, Field Township in Cook, MN.
