Carolyn M. Lokken, 71, of Angora, MN died unexpectedly at St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth on Monday, September 9, 2019. She was surrounded by her children Shane, Jenny, Stacie and her sister Joan.
Carolyn was born on March 13, 1948 at Cook, Minnesota; the daughter of August and Irene (Kesanen) Lappi. She grew up in Cook and graduated from Cook High School. She married Darold Lokken on February 1, 1969 in Cook and they settled in Field Township, where she has lived for over 50 years. Carolyn worked at Life of Riley Resort and Hill Wood Products. She was a member of the Cook V.F.W. Post #1757 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister. She was humble selfless, and always made sure you were taken care of. Carolyn always gave her honest opinion, often, whether you asked for it or not. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, knitting, spending time with her grandchildren, and most of all her dog, Cuddles.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Shane (Shelly) Lokken of Eveleth; 2 daughters: Jenny (James) McDonald of Anchorage, Alaska; and Stacie (Ryan) Santl of Roseau, MN; 3 brothers: Howard (Linda) Lappi of Cook; Gary Lappi of Daytona Beach, FL; and Robert Lappi of Cook, MN; 2 sisters: Verona (Keith) Christianson of Alamosa, CO; and Joan (Lowell) MacDonald of Clearfield, PA; and 6 grandchildren: Nathaniel, Julie, Brendan, Taylor, Zachory, and Alisha.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents: August and Irene; husband Darold Lokken (Oct. 26, 2003); son Shannon Lokken (Feb. 12, 2013); brothers: Leslie Lappi, Vern Lappi, Roger Lappi, Ronnie Lappi, and Kennith Lappi; sisters: Viola Klemmer and Peggy Lappi.
Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:00AM at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, MN. Dr. Rev. Lowell MacDonald will be the officiant. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2019 and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. Casket Bearers will be: Shane Lokken, Alisha Lokken, Jenny McDonald, Julie McDonald, Stacie Santl, Ryan Santl, Taylor Humble, and Zachory Santl. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Howard Lappi, Gary Lappi, Robert Lappi, Joan MacDonald, Verona Christianson, James McDonald, Nathaniel McDonald, Brendan McDonald, Michael Ebert and Lowell MacDonald.
