Obituary

Charles Marvin Street Jr, 87, of Cook entered his eternal home on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Marvin was born on December 4, 1935, near Rochester in SE Minnesota. During his early childhood the family lived in various locations in the Rochester area. In later years they settled near Spring Valley, MN, where he attended the Spring Valley school, graduating from high school in 1953. That fall the family moved to the Idington area in NE Minnesota where he lived until March 20, 1966, when he married Marjorie (Obr) Street. The couple lived together in their home in Beatty Township for 57 years where they raised their two sons, Shane and Clint. Marvin first worked as a logger, then on various construction jobs, spent two years in the Army, returned to construction work for a few years and retired from US Steel/Mintac in Mt. Iron in 1998 after having worked there for thirty years. He was a well-respected worker on every job. Most of his free time was spent on outdoor things such as hunting, fishing, trapping and he was an avid gardener. He loved watching and identifying whatever birds came to the feeders outside the kitchen window in the winter and the hummingbirds in spring and summer. He was a perpetual 'tinkerer' who could make (almost) anything work, even after the 'experts' had given up.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard (Dick) Street; his sister, Shirley (Street) Roethler; and his nephew, Charles Richard Street.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children: Shane and Clint (Becky); grandchildren: Tyler, Jared and Brady; great-grandchildren: Greyson, Paisley and Sophia; and by several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.
