Daniel Bernard Dahl Sr., 86 of Orr, Minn (formerly of Chicago) died peacefully on August 22, 2026. Dan was born in Chicago on April 29, 1940. A graduate of Leo High School, he served as an aerial photographer in the U.S. Navy. After his time in the service, Dan joined the Chicago Fire Department, where he spent 26 years before retiring. Drawn by his love of the outdoors, Dan would move to the small town of Roseville, Ill and then an even smaller town of Orr, Minn. During this time he became a “Gentleman Farmer,” an expert fisherman, and a decent hunter. Dan was a father to Daniel Dahl Jr. (Michelle), Kathleen Dahl, Mark Paprocki, and Terri Paprocki (deceased). Grandfather to Mason and Sawyer Dahl, Anthony and Sophia Paprocki, Bill Dever, and Michael Pawlowski. Brother to Margaret Olson (deceased), Jeremiah (Marge) Dahl, and Charles (Mary) Dahl. Dan loved being an uncle to many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be planned in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dan’s name to the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary in Orr, Minn.
