Darin W. Lindgren
Darin Wesley Lindgren 43, Angora passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at his residence.
Darin W. Lindgren was born on July 6, 1972 in Virginia, the son of Darrel and Betty (Whiteside) Lindgren. He grew up in Cook, graduating from Cook High School class of 1990. He had attended Mesabi Community College where he was enrolled in small business accounting. He was a charter member of the men's VFW auxiliary in Cook. He was genuine, kind hearted, a loyal friend, great son and brother, and the world's greatest uncle. He loved boating in his runabout on Lake Vermilion, and his music system was second to none. Any friend who needed music could count on Darin for making a flawless playlist. In high school he performed with the Christian, "New Wine Group," which toured the country, from Albuquerque to Vancouver. He was a well known bartender and earlier cooked at several bars and restaurants. He was an avid 4-wheeler and motorcycle rider. Darin was currently employed with United Refracting, which lined kilns for several area mines.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willard and LaVerne Lindgren; maternal grandparents, Don Gustason and Thomas Whiteside; one aunt, Trudy Newton; and one uncle, Roger Whiteside.
Darin is survived by his parents Darrel and Betty Lindgren of Cook; one brother Daniel Lindgren of Cook; one sister, Angela (Casey) Anderson of Virginia; maternal grandmother, Frances Gustason of Cook; nieces: Courtney Lindgren, Brianna Lindgren, Haley Lindgren, Shelbey Lindgren, Jasmine Trygg, Lexiss Trygg and Brielle Lindgren, and nephew Elijah Lindgren; aunts and uncles, Karen (Greg) Balke, Lorie Lindgren, William (Linda) Whiteside, Thomas (Jodi) Whiteside, Larry (Lara) Whiteside and Mark Newton; along with many other special relatives and friends.
SERVICES: Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Bruce Hannem and Rev. Dennis Morriem will be the co-officiants. The honorary bearers are: Jack Luecken, Brad Luecken, Dennis Johnson, Lucian Whitney, Kelly Fogelberg, Neil "Scooby" Cheney, Jeffrey Alto, Kate Johnson, Brandon Gruba, and Jill Wickstrom. A reception in Darin's honor will follow the service in the church social hall. Burial will be held in the Cook Cemetery at a later date.
