Darren "Derbi" John Erickson, 59, of Alango Township passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020. Darren was born in Bigfork, Minnesota to Donald and Shirley Erickson on May 9, 1961. He attended school in Circle Pines, Brookston and Cook, and was self-employed as a carpenter. He lived and worked most of his adult life in Minnesota, but also resided briefly on Florida's Gulf Coast and California's Central Coast. Darren was a music lover. As a member of the "Erickson Garage Band" (keyboardist), he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, both playing and listening. Darren was also an avid reader; he loved sharing fun facts and initiating discussion about a wide variety of subjects. His other hobbies included fishing and appreciating the beauty of the great outdoors. In these endeavors, he especially enjoyed the company of his niece and nephew, Hailey and Jacob Erickson. Darren is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Shirley Erickson. He is survived by daughters Candice Saarikoski and Lacey Erickson; grandson Leonard Tiede; brothers Steven (Teresa), Daniel (Carol), and Scott (Carrie), and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family committal will take place at a later date.
