Obituary

David C. Kennedy

July 8/1936 – July 24, 2020

David was born to Raymond and Carrie (Ausgaard) Kennedy on July 8, 1936 in Virginia MN. He attended school in Cook, MN. Like most young men in his generation, he left school in the 10 th grade to go to work. He served for nine years in the National Guard in Virginia, MN. Sheboygan, WI, and Fort Ripley, MN. He left the National Guard and was united in marriage to Lillian Juntunen, on January 30, 1960. The young couple started a family and were blessed with seven children. To support his family, he worked as a logger for Hill Wood Products in Cook, MN and as an equipment operator for different companies.

David was a steadfast family man and loved his family with everything he had. Not only did he love his family, he loved the outdoors. He had a passion for taking nature pictures and running equipment. His favorite time of year had to be spring because there were baby animals all around; and with spring there was always "work to be done".

David was cherished and his daughter states; "Our father has gone to Heaven; he will be dearly missed. For all the things he taught us, respect remains the most. He was a hero to some like me. For others that knew him, they know what I mean, he would give you the shirt off his back if need be".

David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lillian Kennedy; son, Robert Dale Kennedy; and daughter Diane Rae Kennedy.

David is survived by five children: Don (Carol) Kennedy of CO; Donna Brown of TN; Beverly (Craig) Nelson of Angora, MN; Bruce Kennedy of CO; and David (Julie) Kennedy Jr. of TN; sister Doris Seline; brothers Gordon Kennedy and Byron Kennedy; grandchildren: Melinda Johnson, Monica Owens, Gary (Amy) Milton, Nicholas Kennedy, Christopher Kennedy, Dylan Kennedy, Chad Kennedy, Darby Kennedy, Darcy Kennedy, Tara Ashley, Tadd Nelson; one special "adopted" granddaughter, Hannah Moes; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
