David D. Musakka

David Dewayne Musakka, 78 of Angora passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. Raphael's Health & Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth.

David was born on December 27, 1937 in Virginia, the son of Wayne and Marie (Pihlaja) Musakka. He grew up in Alango, graduating from Alango High School in 1955. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served his country and was honorably discharged after his tour of duty. He was married to Allene Moore for over 20 years. David returned back to the Angora area in 1970. He had the good fortune to get good jobs during his working life - including employment with United Parcel Service, Minntac, and a mechanic for St. Louis County . He also worked in Alaska, where he had a great appreciation and love for its open area. Earlier he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an excellent marksman, and taught his children hunting and marksmanship skills. He had
a great working knowledge of guns, including building several.

He is preceded in death by his father Wayne Musakka; mother Marie Hakala, and step-father John Hakala.

David is survived by 1 son, Mark (Tylene Laitinen) Musakka of Angora; 2 daughters, Christy Musakka of Pike-Sandy, MN and Vickie Musakka of Eveleth; 1 brother, Tom (Denise) Hakala of Anoka; 3 sisters, Rosemarie Musakka of Soudan, Johnda (John) Mahlberg of Tucson, AZ and Diane Hakala of Tucson, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Jon, Michael, Tristan, Brody and Dillon; 4 great grandchildren, Carson, Corbin, Brooklynn and Madelynn; his former wife Allene Musakka of Eveleth, along with many other special extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
