David Allan
Wood
Mar 15, 1950 — Apr 11, 2026
David Alan Wood, 76, of Cook, Minnesota passed away peacefully at the Cook hospital on April 11, 2026, with his wife and son at his side.
David was born in Saint Paul Minnesota on March 15, 1950. He graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School in 1968. David went into the US Marine corps after graduation where he honorably served his country until 1971. He then moved North to Gheen, Minnesota and then later to Cook. He married his soulmate and best friend Carrolle Ann Fultz on October 27th, 1979. They lived in Hoyt Lakes Minnesota and later moved back to Cook where David had his own drywall business until his retirement.
David was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved fishing and camping and a good card game. He would watch any televised sporting event, even women's college softball, if it had a Minnesota team involved. He loved rooting for the home team. In fact, the thing he enjoyed the most besides taking a dollar from Gene on the golf course was anytime he got to partner with his only son for some sort of team competition. Golf, Bean Bags, Pool, Darts, Cribbage, and Smear to name a few. When the team was father and son, it didn't matter what the game. They often won (VFW smear tourney for example) but it wasn't about that either, it was about the bond they had. They both agreed they'd rather be partners and lose than to be on some other team that wins but that has no fun.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Lou (Gardner) Wood, his father Leslie Allen Wood, his younger brother Todd Wood, his best friend Mike Wilkholm, and his other best friend and faithful dog, Buck.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years Carrolle (Fultz) Wood; son Nicholas; brothers: Michael (Paulette) Valento, Robbin (Molly) Wood, Tracy (Deb) Wood and Troy (Diane) Wood; sister Jody Refsdahl; sister-in-law Roberta Wood; his aunt Elaine Miller; and numerous cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Saturday April 18, 2026. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. The service starts at 2:00 p.m. at Mlaker funeral home. Following the service lunch will be served at the Cook VFW.
