Dennis "DJ" Jay Dix, 35, Hibbing, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Fairview Medical Center in Hibbing.

He was born on August 17, 1982 in Hibbing, the son of Willard and Diane (Rich) Dix.

He grew up in Hibbing, where he worked for Noble Industries and Detroit Diesel.  Earlier he also had been employed with Northstar Specialized Services in Chisholm and Endotronics in Eveleth.  His passion was open water fishing, and had the opportunity to fish on many northern Minnesota lakes.  He was dear to him and he was especially devoted to his son, Leland.  "DJ" was a member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and appreciated attending Traditional Pow-wows.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Dix and 1 sister, Chris Sallila.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Diane Monetti of Hibbing; 1 son, Leland Dix at home; his longtime friend, Brianne Barnes and her son, Ethan Stuntebeck of Hibbing; five brothers and two sisters; 3 aunts, Irene Weiss of Lake Havasu, AZ, Sylvia (Columbo) Astolfi of Dunmore, PA, and Betty Jerman of Hibbing, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

SERVICES: Traditional Services will be at 11 AM Sunday, December 31 ^st at the Nett Lake Government and Services Center, where the Wake will begin after 4 PM on Saturday, December 30 ^th .

The Spiritual Leader will be Gilbert Smith and Gene Goodsky will be the Spiritual Assistant. The casket bearers will be Tony Monetti, Joe Monetti, Jim Monetti, Jeff Sterling, Brian Kafut and Ethan Stuntebeck.
