On Thursday, May 11, 2023, Donna Margaret (Folkedahl) Parzyck, passed away in Duluth, Minnesota, at the age of 78.
Donna was born on November 11, 1944, in Vallejo, California. She grew up in northern Minnesota and attended Cherry and Alango High Schools, before graduating from Cedar Rapids High School in Iowa. She completed her nurse's training at St Lukes in 1966 and later went on to receive her Masters from St. Scholastica. Donna spent many years assisting in the care of Artie, and later Mike, Wical and working at Life of Riley resort on Lake Vermillion. She retired from Virginia Hospital after many years of nursing. In July 1993 Donna married Frank Parzyck and they built a beautiful home just outside of Cook where they resided for many years.
Donna enjoyed living on Lake Vermillion and often hosted her family and friends at the lake for boating and waterskiing. Later in life she took up golf. She loved dogs and had many over the years. Donna loved to travel and took trips with Frank, her sister-in-law Margaret DeMarce and friends. Consistent with her lifelong care of others, Donna chose to donate her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program for medical education and research.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Frank Parzyck; her parents Nels and Margaret Folkedahl; three sisters: Karen Mayry, Sandra Slotness and Dale Hurst; and her brother Richard Folkedahl. She is survived by her brothers: David, Vern and Neil; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by Barb Perizzo, friend and caregiver.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, Minnesota, on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 1 pm. Visitation will begin at noon. Memorial gifts may be made to your chosen charity. Online condolences to www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
