Doris Mae
Marie Johnson
Mar 31, 1936 — Nov 4, 2021
Doris Mae Marie Johnson, 85 of Cook, MN passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021.
Doris was born on March 31, 1936 in St. Cloud, MN to Michael and Genevieve (Bachel) Lenzen. The family resided between St. Cloud and Cook, before finally returning to Cook in 1950. Doris graduated from Cook High School in 1951. She met Robert Johnson, and upon his return from the military, the couple were united in marriage on November 27, 1954 in Greaney, MN. The couple moved to Angora in 1957 and made it their life-long home.
Doris loved to bake for family and St. Mary's Church bake sales. When she visited nursing homes, she would bring home-made treats to the residents. She was famously known for her peanut butter twists. Doris also loved nature; she adored her humming birds and was constantly filling their feeders. She loved to count the deer in the yard and enjoyed her flower baskets. Doris always enjoyed visitors and company.
First and foremost, Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver to all. She took in many family members in need to care for them. Doris doted on her grandchildren and helped them learn and grow. Doris's family remembers that "she was always there" no matter what, to help in any way she could; she was an angel in disguise. She was a long-time and devoted member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Choir, and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Doris had a huge heart and was a "giver". Even when she was not feeling well, she was still at church; giving until the very end.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; her son Ricky; brothers: George, Richard, and Mike.
Doris is survived by her children: Roberta "Bobbi" (Richard "RB") Bush, and Ron "Sparky" Johnson (Char); grandchildren: Ryan (Jackie) Bush, Bobbi Jo Bush, Michael (Wendy) Johnson, Martin Johnson, Mark (Marilee) Johnson, and Amanda (Michael) Hadenfeldt; and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Kenneth Lenzen, Gene Lenzen; sisters: Judy Parsons and Kelly Flack; and family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 5-7Pm at Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cook, MN. Visitation will be held again one hour prior to the service at the church.
