Duane A. Palmer
Duane A. Palmer, 64 of Gheen passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Cook Hospital.
Duane was born October 2, 1951 in Cook the son of Arthur and Elsie (Ojanen) Palmer. He grew up in Gheen and graduated from the Orr High School in 1969. He was employed in logging as a mechanic starting with General Logging, Butch Teska Logging, and most recently for Shermer Logging the last 18 ½ years. He was also self-employed for a time. Duane was rightly called a "jack of all trades and master of all of them". He enjoyed watching and photographing wildlife, and creating a habitat for them which included tilling and planting food plots for deer. He was passionate for the outdoors. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing especially opening weekend with friends at the family cabin on Myrtle Lake, deer hunting and making deer stands on his property. His "city" nieces and nephews loved the times he took them mudding and making snow hills for them.
Duane was an intelligent, talented and patient individual. His work ethic was something to be desired. He was honest, trustworthy and hardworking. He was a quiet gentle giant and an all around, genuine good guy. He will be greatly missed by all whom have come to know him.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur (1977), his mother Elsie (2006) and one brother in childbirth, Warren Palmer.
Duane is survived by life partner Barbara Palmer; 1 son: Dominic Palmer of Gheen; 3 brothers, Curtis (Kay) Palmer of Orr, Gary (Tammy) Palmer of Cook, and Jeff (Meesoon) Palmer of Montgomery, AL; 1 sister, Rebecca "Becky" Palmer of Chisholm; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
