"Duze" William Chavers, age 68 of Nett Lake passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026 at his home.

Duze was born on April 24, 1957 in Cook, Minnesota the son of Josephine Porter Chavers and James Chavers Sr.  He lived his entire life on the Bois Forte Reservation in Nett Lake.

Duze was a person who would help anyone out if they needed it.  Friends and family would stop by and visit, have coffee and fun conversation. He loved working on cars, trucks, motors or whatever the problem was he would fix it.  Earlier in his life he was an entrepreneur starting up a small business with Roberta Drift as a video/pizza store, they made beautiful clocks to sell and more.  Duze was also a carpenter and built many things.  He also like planting gardens and "entertaining".   There were fun times with all.  He loved his siblings and growing up together.

Duze is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine P. Chavers, siblings Michael Leecy, Merle "Ike" Leecy, Dale Leecy, Charmaine Leecy, Carol "Lumbar" Isham, Janice Day, and Lavelle Chavers.

Duze is survived by his siblings, Jeanne Ann Day, Jewel Day Walker, Jim Chavers, Edward Chavers and children Greg Drift, Daniel Adams, Mitchell Chavers, Benjamin Sharp, Dave Chavers, Billie Jean Drift, Jen Head along with his grandchildren, great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Wake will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, starting at 7:00pm at Bois Forte Government and Services Center. The Celebration of Life will be the next day on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00am, also at the center.
