Betty Elizabeth Chos, age 80, of Biwabik, Mn, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Mn.
Betty was born on November 13, 1945, in Virginia Mn. She devoted her life to her family and found her greatest joy in being a wife and mother. She was known for her warm smile, and generous heart. She was a teacher at heart, having received a degree from St. Cloud State in elementary education. She enjoyed being at the cabin on Lake Vermillion, which was in the family going back to 1978. Betty had a lifelong love of music. She played the piano and the saxophone for most of her life. She also played in the Rio Grand Valley Orchestra and Band and the Mesabi Community Band in Virginia. Betty enjoyed going for walks, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's catholic church in Cook. Betty and Tony both loved being winter residents of the Rio Grand Valley in Texas, where they spent many winters. Most of all, Tony and Betty loved each other.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony Chos; her children, Julie Chos (Buhl Mn.) and Doug Chos (York Ne.); her grandchildren by marriage Brady West (Omaha Ne) and Kevin West (York Ne.); her sister Dorthy Rootes (Phoenix Az); nephew Michael Rootes (Phoenix Az.), and other extended family members and dear friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Matt and Louse Urick, and her sister, Judy Kampa (Urick).
A 10:00am visitation and 11:00am funeral will be held for Betty on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook Mn, with a reception to follow.
Betty will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she shared.
