Esther M. Jowaski, 97, of Cook, MN, "graduated to glory" on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at her home. "Her journey has begun in a Kingdom that will last forever".

Esther was born to Carl and Amanda (Scott) Carlson on January 1, 1926 in Cook, MN. She attended school in Cook, graduating from Cook High School in 1943. Esther went on to pursue a nursing profession; attending Sherman Hospital School of Nursing in Elgin, IL, where she graduated in 1947. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII. Esther was united in marriage to John Jowaski on July 28, 1950 in Pingree Grove, Illinois. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL, Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook, MN, and the Rebecca Circle.

Esther worked at Dr. Heiam's Hospital in Cook, MN after graduating from nursing school before returning to Illinois, where she worked at the Sherman Hospital in Elgin. When she returned to Cook in 1982, she continued her nursing career, working at the Cook Hospital.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John in 1995; brothers: Albert Carlson and Harvey Carlson; and sister Ellen Chos; son-in-law Michael Thompson and son-in-law Bill Herman.

Esther is survived by her children: Katherine Jowaski, Karol (Jurek) Grzybowski, Kenneth (Bryn) Jowaski, and Kaye Herman; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 2:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cook, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
