Eva Tufte
Eva Tufte, 92, Rosemount formerly of Buyck, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at The Rosemount Assisted Living, in Rosemount, Minnesota.
Eva was born on January 8, 1924 in Buyck, the daughter of Armas and Elin (Hasala) Hanskala. She grew up in Buyck, graduated from the Orr High School then the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Chicago in 1947, earning her registered nurse accreditation. She married Curtis Tufte on August 4, 1947 in International Falls, MN. The couple lived in Mankato and Cook then settled in St. Paul. Eva was a longtime registered nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. She retired in 1989, after over 40 years of dedicated service in nursing.
Eva was known for the love she had for her family, and cherished her time with them, including adventurous and fun road trips with her sisters. She enjoyed the challenges of crossword puzzles, loved playing cards, and was a faithful Minnesota Twins fan. She appreciated her coffee and sweets and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Curtis on January 1, 2010; 4 sisters, Eleanor Gabrielson, Esther Doran, Irja Hetzel, and Sadie Koehler; and 2 brothers Ben and Edward Hanskala.
Eva is survived by her 5 children: Kathy, Sarah (Dennis) Tuft, Peggy Tufte, Roy Tufte and Bette Hoffer, 6 grandchildren - Jeffrey, Paul (Jessica), Kristen (Jason), Jonathan (Stephanie), Mary (John), and Kate; 8 great grandchildren, Austin, Amber, Piper, Jaiden, Max, Cora, Elise and Charlie Anne, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
SERVICES: Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Bruce Hannem will be the officiant. Cynthia Hannem will provide the music. A reception to follow in the church social hall. Burial will be held at a later date in the Leiding Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
