Frederick "Fred" Peter Erkkila, 80, of Orr, Mn passed away on June 29, 2024.

Fred was born on November 3, 1943, in Virginia, Mn to Fred and Katy Erkkila. After graduating from Bemidji State College, Fred taught school in Babbitt, Mn where he met and married his wife, Dana; they were married for 51 years. After 17 years of teaching, Fred changed his career path, and with his wife Dana, spent the next 43 years on Loon Lake working and operating the Loon Falls Rail Portage and Loon Falls Wilderness Camp. Fred spent his retirement years in Orr, Mn; a community he dearly loved. Fred's family will lovingly remember him as someone who was always happy and joyful.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents.

Fred is survived by his wife Dana of Orr; brothers: Roderick of Wyoming, Mn, Eric of Duluth, and Kendrich of Virginia; sister Kathleen (Fred) Gabrielson of Orr; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Per Fred's request, a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
