Freeman Forsythe, 98, passed away at Rainy Lake Medical Center on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Freeman was born on June 5, 1926, to David and Mary Forsythe in International Falls, MN. He lived his entire life in International Falls, except for his service from 1944 to 1946 in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in France and Germany.
He was united in marriage to Rose Vacura and they were blessed with three children. Rose preceded him in death in 2014.
After honorably serving his country, Freeman left the service and worked for Mando Paper Mill in International Falls and then became a self-employed logger for 20 years. He worked at Northernaire Houseboats during the summer and later went to work as a millwright for Boise Cascade and Bildrite until retiring at 65.
Freeman enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. He had a real passion for fishing and camping in Canada with Rose and his Grandchildren.
Freeman was preceded in death by his parents David and Mary; wife Rose; daughter Gail Fish; son-in-law Darwin Fish; brothers: Norman, Ivan, Harold, Roy, and Gerald; sisters: Helen, Viola, Eunice, Irene, Gladys, and Muriel; and grandchildren: Roger Fish and Adam Forsythe.
Freeman is survived by his daughter Annette (Tom) Clark and his son Wayne (Beverly) Forsythe; grandchildren: Melissa Nelson, Shane (Colleen) Fish, Bradley (Lisa) Olson, Andrew (Dana) Waldbillig Nicholas (Dena) Waldbillig, Aaron Waldbillig, Kelly (Jerry) Reno. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11am in the Fellowship Hall at Good Samaritan Society, International Falls, Minnesota.
