Gary George
Dehn
May 21, 1943 — Oct 19, 2023
Gary George Dehn: May 21, 1943-October 19, 2023. Gary was born in Minneapolis, MN. He was raised and spent his childhood in and around the metro area. At the young age of seventeen, he joined the U.S. Navy. His enlistment was from 1960 to 1964. He served aboard the USS Lake Champlain CVS-39. Gary was privileged to serve under three different Commander's in Chief. His deployment caused him to be active during the Cuban missile crisis and the recovery of astronaut John Glenn. His service concluded with an Honorable discharge. In life, he was known for his large stature. In death, he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and humility. He was "old school" in his beliefs and actions. Having spent his life being the best friend, husband, and father possible. He most certainly had his flaws and failures in life, but he faced his challenges with grace and quiet dignity that few possess. His hobbies and passions in life are too numerous to list. He was a farmer at heart and chased that passion to his last days. It would be remiss not to mention his prized "Allis" and the time they shared. Throughout his life as a sailor, electrician, farmer, entrepreneur, and business owner, he impacted so many lives. Being a father and grandfather were by far his proudest accomplishments. Looking back, it is easy to remember his quick wit, charm, and presence. His profound life will continue on in our hearts and minds. The cherished memories he helped create will undeniably live on through the stories we tell of Gary and his Guinness world records. Fare thee well sailor, may fair winds and following seas grace your journey. Deo Credendum Sed Ceteris Confirmandam Est.
