George Janesich

George Robert Janesich, 91, of Silver Bay formerly of Rauch passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay.

George was born on November 20, 1924 the son of Joseph and Josephine (Mulc) Janesich. He was raised in Rauch, attending schools in Rauch and Silverdale, before graduating from the Littlefork High School class of 1942. He honorably served in the Army during WWII in Patton's 3rd Army. After the war he returned back to Rauch for a time to log. He then moved to Duluth to earn his electrical license from Duluth Vocational School. In 1956 George moved to Silver Bay where he was employed as an electrician for Reserve Mining for 30 years, retiring in 1985. George was a member of the Silver Bay VFW Post #6204. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, his back year garden and bountiful raspberry patch, playing bridge, and visiting with friends.

He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joseph and John Janesich; and 1 sister, Mildred Janesich who died on April 4, 2016.

He is survived by special neighbor and friend, Mary Anselment of Silver Bay, MN.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Father Drew Braun will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by St. Mary's Funeral Choir and Marjorie Miller. Military honors will be accorded by: Cook Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1757 and the Orr American Legion Post #480. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Greaney. A reception in honor of George will follow the service in the church social hall. Arrangements are with the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
