Gordon l. Raati

Gordon 'Gordy' Lee Raati, 56, of Orr passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Cook Hospital.

He was born on October 3, 1960 in Chisholm, the son of Leonard R. and Louise (Gordon) Raati.
He grew up in the Sturgeon Township area attending the Alango School, then Cook High School. He moved to Minneapolis, was a manager of a car wash for a few years and worked for Mettal-matic. He returned back to Angora in 1993 and worked for C & H Muffler. He was paralyzed due to a car accident and later was co-owner of The Sturgeon Tire until he took early retirement. He was married to Amy Heinonen on July 14, 1984.
Gordy enjoyed working on cars, fishing and camping.  He was especially proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Gordy is survived by his children: Jason, Jordan and Sondra Raati all of Orr; his former wife Amy Raati of Orr; 1 brother Leonard (Donna) Raati of Angora; 3-sisters: Lorrie (Michael) Heinonen of Sturgeon Township, Ava (Keith) Denardo of Angora and Elaine Juntunen of Eveleth; 5 grandchildren: Justin Raati, Jade Raati, Dominic Kinnunen, Trinity Kinnunen and Lillyana Raati; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jeff Schirle will be the officiant. Honorary bearers will be Gordy's grandchildren. Interment will be in the Alango Cemetery. A reception in Gordy's honor will be held at the Cook VFW after the service.
