Obituary

Harry Oscar Holter, 88, of Cook, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Cook Care Center.

Harry was born to Henry and Mary (Hoblak) Holter on December 27, 1930 in Cook, MN. Harry was raised in Cook and attended school until he had to leave to work on the family farm. In 1951, Harry joined the United States Army serving honorably for 2 years in Germany. After Harry left the Army, he came back to Cook. He was united in marriage to Ann "Dolly" Lanquist on June 7, 1957 in Cook, MN. Harry and Dolly lived on the family working farm. While farming, Harry also held down a second job working for US Steel as a truck driver until an injury forced him to retire.  He continued to work on the farm, regardless of his injury, and raised beef cattle with Dolly. Harry loved to travel; he and Dolly traveled out West to see the Sequoia's and would often travel to Baudette to see Dolly's relatives. Sadly, Dolly passed away in March of 2003.

Harry enjoyed tinkering. He was a proficient small motors mechanic and woodworker. He had a passion for collecting old tractors and "junk". Harry loved to dance, and his biggest regret was when his injury got the best of him and he was no longer able to enjoy it. Harry enjoyed his quiet time on the lake fishing. Harry was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Dolly; his brothers: Marvin, Dennis, Allen, and James; and a niece Brenda.

Harry is survived by his brother Lloyd (Judy) Holter of Cook; sisters: Irene Baumgartner of Cook, Ethel Barnes of Cook, Mary Ann (Bob) Race of Ontario, Canada, and Nancy (James) Rinne of Angora; special young man, Tom Kleven, and his wife Sarah and their three children; nieces and nephews: Mark, Karen, Jane, Gary, Gail, Larry, Kathy, Noreen, Kenneth, Linda, Jill, Ronald, Todd, Darren, Scott, Russell, Laura, Dale, Debbie, Jamie, Sarah, Taryn and Tammy.
