Helen L. Edblom

Helen L. Edblom, 92 of Cook passed away peacefully January 5, 2017 at Cook's Carefree Living.
She was born in Virginia on March 30, 1924 the daughter of Gottfrid and Sophie (Olson) Carlson. After High School she became friends with Albert Carlson, fell in love and they were married for 39 years until his passing. She married a longtime friend of the family, Arvid Edblom, on May 4, 1985, and were blessed with 29 years of marriage. For several years Helen was employed at Ketola's Department Store in Virginia as a manager/buyer for the children's department. She loved and took pride in her work. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She found great joy in being a wonderful hostess and had entertained many people through the years. She has been making her home at Carefree living in Cook.
Helen is preceded in death by her first husband Albert Carlson on January 4, 1983; second husband Arvid Edblom on March 17, 2014; one brother Bob Carlson; and one sister Frances Kleppe.
Helen is survived by two sons, Tom (Arlene) Carlson of Grand Rapids, MN, and Dennis (Donna) Carlson of Cook; one daughter Rozie (Wayne) Anderson of Braunfels, TX ; one step-son Richard "Dick" Edblom of Cook; seven grandchildren, Heather Carlson of Coon Rapids, Kory (Annie) Carlson of Lino Lakes, Tommy (Laurie) Carlson of Hermantown, Shawnia Carlson of Champlin, MN, Garth (Chrissy) Carlson of Hoyt Lakes, Jared (Danielle) Anderson of Hermantown and Jason Anderson of Hudson, WI; 17 great-grandchildren along with many other special extended family and friends.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, (Jan. 13th) at the First Baptist Church in Cook. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Jared Bangs will be the officiant. The vocalist will be Kathy Forsline and the pianist Doreen Olson. Spring interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery of Angora Township. A reception in Helen's honor will follow the service in the church social hall. Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
