Helen P. McBride
Helen Patricia McBride, 89, Cook, died at the Cook Nursing Home in the early hours of the morning on Thursday, January 15, 2015.
She was born on March 17, 1925 in Duluth, the daughter of George and Olga Watts. She grew up on Garden Street and graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1943. From there she moved to the Iron Range and eventually settled with her family in Cook where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. During her years in Cook, Helen worked for the Cook Nursing Home as a nursing assistant and for the U.S. Forest Service as a receptionist. During the eighties and nineties, upon returning to Duluth, she enjoyed working as a motel manager. The "job" that was always dearest to her heart, however, was that of being a mother. Helen, as she often said, "fiercely loved" her children. Other loves of Helen's were playing cards, visiting with friends, traveling to see her children, doing crossword puzzles, and talking and talking and talking. She was a stylish, quick-witted character who loved and was loved by many.
She is preceded in death by her father George Watts Sr. 1952, her mother Olga Watts 1979, her husband Richard McBride 2010, her son Michael Marconett 2013 and his father David Marconett 1989.
Helen is survived by her children John (Jane) Marconett of Cook, Susan (Richard) Aune of Lake Vermilion- Cook, Robert (Renee) Marconett of Canyon, Arlyn Ferguson of Hemet, California, and Patti (Paula Williams) Olson of Barnum; her grandchildren Rachel (Reid) Stanley, Brian Marconett, Brent (Melissa) Marconett, Zach (Rochelle) Marconett, Thomas (Monique) Aune, Matthew (Deana) Aune, Spencer (Stacy) Aune, Andrew Aune, Haley (Chris) Murphy, Corey (Kevin) Christofferson, Joey (Judy) Clarkson, Jamie (Raymond) Clarkson, Brandon Ferguson, and Reuben Olson-Williams; her twenty-three great grandchildren; her former husband Floyd "Govie" Olson of Gilbert; her brothers George "Joe" (Carol) Watts Jr. of Canyon and Robert (Laurella) Watts of Canyon; her many special nephews and nieces and a multitude of dear and loving friends.
