Helmer Lyle Oien, 89, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away peacefully at his home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Helmer Lyle Oien was born February 13, 1935 in International Falls, Minnesota. He graduated from Little Fork High School in 1955. He was wed to Sharon Louise Bradburn February 1956, his son David was born August 1958. Helmer's wife Sharon passed away in April 1990.
He was wed to Agnes (Nan) Stallard in July of 1995. Nan passed away on April 26, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father Helmer Senior, his mother Emma, his oldest sibling Everett, his sisters Levon Sealander, Helen Sullivan, Dolores Kleis, and nieces Layna (Sullivan) Liebhard, Carol Kleis, and nephews Dennis Sealander and Tony Kleis.
Helmer is survived by his loving son David (Sue) Oien and his adopted son Norman (Rhonda) Arne.
Helmer is also survived by Nan's children Iain Stallard (Carla Moeller), Graham (Paige) Stallard, Gavin Stallard, Joshua Moeller, Alia Cota (Mathew Fischer), Charlotte Cota, Jordan and Kyle Fischer.

Helmer was also blessed to have more grandchildren added to his wonderful life. They are Theodore Hams (Samantha Hams and Zach Johnson), Landon, Emma, Elizabeth Nuthak (Kelly and Chris Nuthak), Peyton, Cassidy, Rylee, Lucas Wold (Melisssa and Kenny Wold).
Helmer retired from M D & W railroad in 1996 as an Engineer. Helmer was an avid fisherman and outdoor sportsman. He enjoyed fishing with both his wives. Helmer will be sorely missed by all those mentioned and those not mentioned.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Littlefork Lutheran Church, Littlefork, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
