Homer D. Sherman

Homer D. Sherman, 83, of Casa Grande, AZ (formerly of Angora and St. Paul, MN) passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31 2017 in El Cajon, CA.

Homer was born in Virginia, MN on Jan 29 th 1934 and lived his first 11 years at Sherman's Corner in Angora. He moved to St. Paul in 1945 and graduated from Wilson High School in 1952. Homer enlisted in the army in 1953 and, after completing the Army's Security Agency Training School, he served in the Army Security Agency, including serving in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and attended the University of Minnesota. Afterwards, Homer married Jacqueline Aras in St. Paul.

He was employed with the Bechtel Corporation from 1964 to 1995. Homer worked both stateside and oversees, retiring as Construction Manager from Bechtel. Even though retired, he continued as a consultant with Bechtel. Homer loved and served the Lord by spreading the Word to everyone he met and through his service in the church. His main hobby was his daily reading and studying of the Bible.

He is preceded in death by parents, Ben and Ida Sherman; his brothers, Roger, Earl, Ben, and Maury; and sisters Annabelle and Grace.

Homer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline; daughter and son-in-law, JaNae and Audie Uy, granddaughters Julia and Chloe Uy; his brother, Lee; and sisters Blanch and Gayle, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 6 th at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, A visitation will be held on hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be accorded by the combined Honor Guards of the Cook VFW Post 1757 and the Orr American Legion Post 480 Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery of Angora. A reception in honor of Homer will be held at the Cook VFW.  Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, MN.
