Ione M. Johnson Falk

Ione Marie Johnson Falk, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia.

Ione was born on September 15, 1937 in Cook the daughter of Peter and Irene (Meizo) Skraba. She grew up in Greaney graduating Salutatorian from  Orr High School.  She was married  to Rodney Johnson for seventeen years and were blessed with five children.  Ione lived in  Denver, Colorado for eight years before returning to Cook in 1965, where she has since resided.  She was a longtime dedicated housekeeper, cleaning, some of her same customers homes for 30 years.  She married Ernest "Ernie" Falk in 1993 in Virginia City, Nevada. She was a committed member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook for over 60 years. Ione enjoyed baking, planting flowers, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, Bingo at the VFW,  and looked forward to playing cards every day  with her friends at the Pioneer Building.  She especially cherished her children and grandchildren, always making each one feel special, never forgetting a birthday, or special event. She was a devoted, strong mother and doting grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 1 son Rocky Johnson; 1 brother, Eugene Skraba; 1 sister, Sandra Fish; and best friend Shirley Cheney.

Ione is survived by her husband, Ernest "Ernie" Falk; children: Jeffrey (Nena) Johnson of Oberlin, KS, Peter (Penny Soderbeck) Johnson of Cook, Renee (Jim) Powers of Virginia and Rhonda (Travis Taylor) Niemi of Cook; 1 brother Peter (Martha) Skraba of Lake City, MI; 16 grandchildren,17 great- grandchildren (with another one on the way), along with  numerous special extended family and friends.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am  Monday, (August 7 ^th ) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook.  A gathering of family and friends will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Rev. Father Fred Method will be the celebrant. St. Mary's Funeral Choir will sing with Marjorie Miller providing the accompaniment.   A reception in Ione's honor will be held in the church social hall immediately after the service.  Interment will follow in the Field Township Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.  To sign the online guestbook, or to leave a condolence for the family, go to: www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
