James Matthew Gilbert; age 88; of Bear River, MN; passed away peacefully with his wife Marsha; son's Steven and Tristan; daughter Deborah and family by his side at St Lukes Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota on May 4th, 2023 at 7:30 pm.

James was born on April 18, 1935; in Popple, MN to his late parents: Charles E. & Vinia M. Gilbert of Togo, MN. James was the last remaining of 9 siblings.

James worked as a Mason, Carpenter and lumber yard laborer. James was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go fishing and hunting.  James is survived by his wife of 34 years Marsha; son's Steven; Tristan; Donald; and James (Donna); daughters Deanna (Richard); Deborah (Jay); Myrna; Dorinda (Harry) and Rosemary.  He also has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, MN; May 10th, 2023 at 10 am, then graveside service will be conducted at Morcom Cemetery in Bear River, MN where he will be laid to his final resting place at 12 noon.
