James "Jim" Robert Shuster, 65, of Greaney, Minnesota passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018.
Jim was born August 4, 1952 in Cook, Minnesota. He was the son of Thomas and Helen Shuster, and was raised in Greaney, Minnesota.
Jim graduated from Orr High School in 1970. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1972 to 1975, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His service took him throughout Europe, working on antenna as a communication specialist. In September 1977, he began his career with St. Louis County as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He married Judie Warzonek on September 16, 1978.
Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, a connoisseur of card games, and baseball fanatic. He was known for his welcoming demeanor, his knowledge and appreciation for his family history and heritage. His loyalty to the Green Bay Packers was a testament to his strong will, given his northern Minnesota residence. No matter where he was, you could bet his coffee cup was with him. Jim loved his job. When asked about retirement, his response was "Been retired for 41 years! Why would I retire from such a great job?"
Jim is survived by his wife, Judie; sons Brian, Dan (Kate) and Dave; and granddaughters Abbigail, Avery, Adelle and Amaya. Jim loved and excelled at being "Grandpa," and referred to his granddaughters as his "A-team." He is also survived by his 3 brothers: Thomas (Ann) Shuster; Gerald (Amy) Shuster; Albert (Lorie) Shuster; 1 sister Jeanne Christianson; nieces and nephews: Joseph Shuster, Jennifer Otis, Jennifer Shuster, Elizabeth Shuster, Andy Shuster, April Shuster, and Joshua Christianson.
A celebration of Jim's life will include visitation on Friday, April 6 th , 6-8 pm at Mlaker funeral home in Cook. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 7 th at 10am at Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow the funeral at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Greaney. A reception in Jim's honor will be held at the Orr American Legion Hall after the burial.
