Jason W. Triska

Jason William Triska, 24, Cook, tragically passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, due to the result of injuries sustained in an All Terrain Vehicle accident.

He was born on December 11, 1991, in Virginia, the son of Mike and Jackie (Kries) Triska. Jason grew up and worked most of his life on the family resort Voyageur Cove on Lake Vermilion. He graduated from High School in Cook in 2010, where he played trumpet and soccer. Jason was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy for 12 years. Jason also received his Eagle Scout ranking. He earned an Associate of Arts Degree in small engine repair from Alexandria Technical College in 2012. He went on to be employed as a small engine mechanic for Timbuktu Marina on Lake Vermilion-Cook, where he had worked since in 2008, doing casual labor.
Jason loved the outdoors, whether it was alpine skiing, fishing, riding his ATV, snowmobiling or hunting. He also enjoyed time playing on the pool league. Jason will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Jackie Triska of Lake Vermilion-Cook, maternal grandparents, Paul and Barb Kries of Woodstock, IL; paternal grandmother, Pat Triska of Boone, IA; 2 sisters, Michelle (Doug) Schulz of Hammond, IN and Becky Triska at home; twin niece and nephew Emma and Jacob Schulz; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday (May 17th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday, (May 16th) at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook and will continue one hour prior to the funeral. Father Drew Braun will be the celebrant. St. Mary's Funeral Choir will sing, with Marjorie Miller providing the accompaniment. Interment will be in the Cook Community Cemetery. A reception in Jason's honor will follow in St. Mary's social hall. Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
