John Davis Anderson
John D. Anderson, 81, Cook, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Cook Care Center.
He was born in Southern Minnesota on November 2, 1934. The family moved to Humboldt, Iowa, where he graduated from high school and was active in school sports.
He attended UCLA (University of California in Los Angeles), and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He settled in Indianola, where he was employed many years building bridges for Herberger Construction Company.
He enjoyed fishing and vacationed on Lake Vermilion for years, then moved to Cook permanently in 1997. His passions were golfing, fishing and hunting. He was very active in and loved time spent at the Vermilion Fairways in Cook.
He is survived by 2 sons, John (Tawnya) Anderson of Witchita, KS and Michael "Big Mike" Anderson of Cook; 3 grandchildren- Ethan, Kaden and Jonathon Anderson; several siblings; and former wife, Susan Larson of DesMonies, IO.
SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 1:00 Monday, October 17th, at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook. Rev. Tom Kennebeck will be the officiant. Military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guards of the Cook VFW and the Orr American Legion.
