John L. Arbuckle

John L. Arbuckle, 55, Virginia, formerly of Minneapolis, and Nett Lake, died January 5, 2017, at Essentia Health in Virginia.

He was born on June 1, 1961, in Oakland, California, the son of John and Bernice (Chosa) Arbuckle.  He lived in on Bois Forte as a young child, then  grew up in Minneapolis, living on the South Side.    John honorably served in the US Navy.  He went to school for photography and loved doing weddings, private photo shoots and outdoor photography. He liked going for walks, appreciated nature, the outdoors and wildlife. His friends admired his quick wit and  great sense of humor. John was fun and  had a zest for life.  Through all of his health concerns, he still kept his spirits up and moved forward in life. His family fondly recalls that he liked animals, and that he dearly cared for his two cats.   He will be sadly missed  by the many who knew him.

John is survived by a half brother, William (Janet) Spear of Mellon, WI, and a sister, Anastasia "Stacy" Peasley of New Brighton, MN, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 2 ^nd , at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.  Rev. Kevin Land will be the officiant.  Military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guards of the Cook VFW and the Orr American Legion. A reception in John's honor will follow at the Cook VFW
