John H. Lossing
John H. Lossing, 63, Cook, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 29, 2015.
He was born on January 1, 1952 at Blackduck, Minnesota; the son of James and Helen (Coburn) Lossing. John grew up in Blackduck, where he graduated from high school in 1970. He moved to Virginia and worked for Minntac for 15 years. He married Darlene Luukkonen on September 3, 1975, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. John ventured out into over the road trucking, he owned and operated Lossing Trucking for a number of years.
In 1986, he formed Lossing Siding, which became a well known and respected siding and roofing company. His quality work took him to not only all areas in Northern Minnesota, but even as far as Illinois. John's passions were hunting, being with family and playing Texas Hold or any kind of Poker. He will be sadly missed by the many who came to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen (2009) and James (2014) Lossing.
John is survived by his wife, Darlene; 3 sons: Ray Lossing and Jay Lossing Jarvi, both of Cook and Ronnie (Joan) Lossing of Honduras; a daughter, Laurie (Dave) Dutton of Excelsior, MN; 10 Grandchildren: Jon Lossing, Joe Jarvi, Alex Lossing, Matt Jarvi, Tyler Lossing, Ryan Lossing, Ashley Lossing, Kelsey Jarvi, Amber Lossing and Julee Dutton; 4 brothers: Dan (Gaye) Lossing of Gilbert, Randy (Dana) Lossing of Virginia; Floyd (Gail) Lossing of Blackduck, MN and Rex (Chris) Lossing of Milaca, MN; 2 sisters: Helen "Babe" (James "Sonny")Lahr and Dixie (Arthur "Corky") Wirkas both of Blackduck, MN; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins nieces, nephews and many friends.
SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday (February 7th) at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, where a gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service. Randy Moody, a longtime friend will lead the service. The honorary bearers will be John's grandsons: Jon Lossing, Joe Jarvi, Alex Lossing, Matt Jarvi, Tyler Lossing and Ryan Lossing. A reception in John's honor will be held at the Cook VFW after the service. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorials can be directed to: Essentia Health- East Range Hospice, 901 9th Str. North, Suite #215, Virginia, MN 55792.
