John Francis
Wudinich
Jun 8, 1952 — Aug 31, 2025
John "Woody" Francis Wudinich III, age 73, of Virginia, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at 10:28 p.m. at Carefree Assisted Living in Cook, Minnesota.
Woody was born on June 8, 1952, to John Francis Jr. and Geraldine Wudinich. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Marine Corps before working many dedicated years with the U.S. Postal Service in Eveleth, Minnesota.
Family was the center of Woody's life. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Gwendolyn Wudinich, and together they raised two children: Todd Wudinich and Miranda (Jesse) Krulich. He was a devoted grandfather to Mariah Krulich, Braylin Krulich, Mika Wudinich, and Kira Littlewolf, and a cherished great-grandfather to Kingston Patrick and Justin Earnest Jr.
He is also survived by his sister Laurie (Tom) Cundy, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family including Mike (Kasey) Cundy, Brody (Ally) Cundy, Adam Leiviska, Tara (Kevin) Boerst, and Ryan LaDoucer.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents, John Francis Jr. and Geraldine Wudinich, and siblings Karen (Ray) Leiviska and Marilyn Purull.
Outside of work, Woody enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found hunting, four-wheeling, or spending time at "the shack." He also had a true passion for carpentry and most of all, he treasured time spent with his family.
In keeping with his wishes, John will be cremated. A memorial gathering to celebrate Woody's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Timbers Edge Restaurant/Bar. This will be a potluck event. Those wishing to contribute may contact Miranda at 218-410-8636. No formal funeral service is planned.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Carefree Assisted Living and Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
Woody will be remembered for his strength, devotion, and love for his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and warm memories.
