Jonathan "The M" Morrison (Nay pah gah bow)

Jonathan "The M" Morrison, 56, Virginia passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the University Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Jon was born on November 7, 1958, in Nett Lake the son of Daniel and Priscilla (Donald) Morrison Sr., He grew up in Nett Lake, attending school in Nett Lake and Orr. At Orr High School he played on the Orr Braves basketball team.. Jon lived on Indian Point and Nett Lake for most of his life, and in Virginia the past 10 years. Jon worked as a bus driver, conservation officer, a custodian for at the school and also as a construction laborer.
His passions included playing softball, netting, fishing, hunting, ricing and parching rice. Jon was instrumental in organizing the annual "Janitor's Classic" – a men's basketball tournament held to raise money for the Bois Forte Ambulance.

He is preceded in death by his father Daniel Morrison Sr. (2005); mother Priscilla Morrison (2014); 2 brothers: Daniel "Mutt" Morrison Jr. (2006) and Jim Morrison and his 2 daughters Denise and Chris, who all tragically died together in a car accident, (1982); brother-in-law: Leonard Thompson (2012); and a nephew "baby Dave" Morrison (1976)

Jon is survived by his companion Cindy Hill of Virginia; children: Francis Goodsky from the state of Virginia, Davelle (Adrian) Jones of Nett Lake, Christina (fiancé Franklin Jones) Morrison of Hibbing, Rachel ( fiancé Todd Perala) Morrison of International Falls, Charley Morrison, Kristie Morrison, Jon Hill and Darryl Morrison all of Virginia; 1-brother David (Teresa) Morrison Sr. of Nett Lake; 2 sisters: Terrie Morrison and Wendy Thompson both of Nett Lake; 7-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

SERVICES: Traditional Tribal Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, (August 6, 2015) at the Tribal Government Services Center in Nett Lake where a visitation will be after 5:00 pm Wednesday. The spiritual leader will be Gilbert Smith and the spiritual advisor Gene Goodsky. Casket bearers will be: Travis Morrison,, George LaRoque, Gordy "Jones" Adams Jr., Francis "Tuna" Connor, Chester "Chet" Graue, William "Jose" Whiteman, Clarence "Bubba" Roy Jr. and Ray Hawk. The honorary bearers will be: Gary "Uncle Gar" Donald,Dave Danz, Bryan "Toogie" Porter, Eugene "Ribs" Whitebird, Corey, Eric and Lewis Strong, , Nancy Day, Ellen Little, Kent Isham, David "Squidg", Darian, Erynn, Lucille, Amy and Floyd Morrison, Edith Villebrun, Marcella Connor and Shirley Bixby.
