Obituary

Joseph "Joey" James Kelsey Jr, 50, of Fridley, MN, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019.

Joey was born to Joseph and Myrna (Goodsky) Kelsey Sr. on July 5, 1968 in Minneapolis, MN. Joey grew up and attended school in North Minneapolis.

Joey worked for River Grille in Fridley and Bridging in Roseville, a nonprofit donation center for household furniture and items. He enjoyed many hobbies such as: cars, fireworks, rock and country music, Nascar, and the Green Bay Packers. He would make the annual drive to Wisconsin to buy some of the best fireworks available to show off to his friends and family, since his birthday was the day after the fourth of July. Also, every summer he would take his children fishing at the Rapidan Dam, about a 15 minute drive southwest of Mankato, with his father living nearby.

Joey was always about family and hard work. He was never the type of person to sit around and relax because he would always be doing something around the house, in the garage, working on his and other peoples' cars, or on vacation such as the Florida Keys or Las Vegas, or somewhere closer to home such as Duluth or Mankato. He always loved it when his four children were in one room together with him. He was a selfless person who always had time to visit his father and his late mother. His best times were spent barbequing and entertaining his friends and family.

Joey was preceded in death by his Mother Myrna Kelsey, and his brothers: Darrell Goodridge and Francis Goodridge.

Joey is survived by his father Joseph Kelsey of Mankato, MN; his sons: Adam Silverlance of St. Cloud, MN, Jeffrey Silverlance of Fridley, MN and Monte Kelsey of Crosslake, MN; daughter Lita Kelsey of Fridley, MN; brothers: Mahlon Goodridge of St. Louis Park, MN and Patrick Kelsey of Crystal, MN; sister Sandra Kelsey of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous other family members.
