Joyce A. Holman
Joyce A. Holman, 76, of Gheen, passed away unexpectedly at home of natural causes on
Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
She was born on January 22, 1940 in Little Falls, Minnesota, where she grew up. She moved to San Diego, California, where she married James E. Holman on September 24, 1960. After James passed away, Joyce moved back and settled in Hoyt Lakes. She was a dedicated CNA (certified nursing assistance) at the Eveleth Fitzgerald Hospital. She has resided in the Cook area the past 30 years and worked as a CNA at the Cook Hospital. Her hobbies including refurbishing furniture and resoring antiques. Joyce enjoyed feeding the deer and birds, and her place was a refuge for all wildlife. She dearly loved her family (depending on what day it was – her family recounts with humor.) Joyce will
be dearly missed by family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James; and 1 brother, Larry Swanson.
Joyce is survived by 1 daughter, Laura (Brian Jayne) Saarikoski of Gheen; 1 Grandson, James Saarikoski; 4 Great-grandchildren: Cadence and Ryan Saarikoski and Tyler and Tristan Dreiman,
