Karen Louise Carlson, 77, of Virginia, formerly of Cook, MN passed away on Sunday November 11, 2018 at Essentia Health Care Center.

Karen was born in Lisbon, North Dakota on January 20, 1941, daughter of Clayton and Abelona (Wittliff) Carlson. She moved to Cook in 1944, and then moved to Virginia, MN in 2000, where she has resided since. Karen was employed at the Hills Box Factory in Cook, MN for over 35 years until she retired. Karen enjoyed embroidering, going to rummage sales, and collecting owls. Her family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Health Care Center for the wonderful care and kindness given to Karen.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents: Clayton and Abelona Carlson; sister Dorothy Rent; brother Darrell Carlson; and nephew Clayton Rent.

Karen is survived by two sisters: Ardis (Darrel) Sandvig of Moorhead, MN and Diane Maher of Castle Rock, CO; brother-in-law Leonard Rent of Biwabik, her nieces whom she called her right and left arm: Sandy Addy of Virginia, MN and Cyndee Forsman of Aurora, MN; and other numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00AM at Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Cook Community Cemetery. To leave an online condolence visit www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
