Lawrence Malcolm
Mccue
Feb 23, 1931 — Jul 16, 2024
In the loving embrace of his daughters, Lawrence Malcolm McCue embarked on his greatest adventure yet, departing from this earthly realm on July 16, 2024. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, care, defiance, and a knack for keeping life interesting. He was a testament to the resilience and love we humans can hold.
Lawrence Malcolm McCue was born February 23, 1931, in Wright, Minnesota. He was the fourth child of eight born to a Swedish mother, Aleda Gertrude Lundeen, and a German/Czech father, Charles Michael McCue. His family lived in St Paul before moving their young family to Bear River, where he resided most of his life. He married Darlene Olson on October 31,1953.
Lawrence served in the United States Navy, sang in the Men's Navy Choir, worked for Penta Logging in Buyck, and worked for Ulland Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator. He was intrigued with flying and earned his private pilot's license at age 40. Lawrence was a member of the St. Louis Rescue Squad, using his Aeronca Champ airplane for search and rescue. He had endless hobbies including picking berries, making wine, fishing, and trapping. He enjoyed hunting deer, elk, and buffalo, and with great success. Lawrence nurtured a green thumb and took pride in his vegetable gardens. He was the true Renaissance Man and exhibited a great love of nature and outdoor life. He retained a twinkle in his blue eyes and a unique brand of quick wit and humor to the end.
As his spirit takes flight, Lawrence reunites with those who preceded him in death. His parents, Aleda and Charles, brothers Donald, Virgil (Squeek) and Thomas, sisters Charlotte, Florence and Betty, and infant son, Lawrence were awaiting his arrival. As they welcomed him with open arms, we find solace in the knowledge that he is embraced by eternal love.
Lawrence is survived by 4 children: Teresa Thompson, Kelly (Sue) McCue, Clayton (Ann) McCue, and Susan (John) Mankus. 7 grandchildren, Kelli Sue McCue, Conor (Nichole) McCue, Amber Phelps, Preston McCue, Neil (Lindsey) McCue, Myles (Ellen) Mankus, and Tessa (Derek) Judnick, and 14 great grandchildren, and one on the way; sister Barbara Seopa; sisters-in-law: Karen McCue and Carol McCue.
The McCue family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista Memory Care for their wonderful care of Lawrence over the last two years.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 12:00pm at Mlaker Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 11:00am. Lunch will follow the service at the VFW in Cook, MN.
